Welcome to St Andrew’s Pre-school
At St Andrew’s Pre-school, we aim to provide a safe, caring and inclusive environment where children will develop to their full potential. Self-esteem and confidence are reinforced by praise and encouragement. As children progress through pre-school, they become more independent and self-reliant. But first and foremost pre-school should always be fun – learning to share and socialise with peers, enjoying all the activities on offer, having a good time without the pressure of continually needing to achieve.
St Andrew’s Pre-school provides places for up to 30 children at a time aged between 2½ and 5 years of age. You can register your child on the waiting list as soon as you wish. We require a registration form to be completed (you can download a copy here). We also require a £20 non-refundable registration fee and to see the child’s birth certificate to confirm their date of birth.
You can contact us during our session times to arrange a time to be shown around St Andrew’s Pre-school and answer any questions you may have.
A copy of our admissions policy can be found here.
Funding and fees
Through the Government and Reading Borough Council, funding is available to cover up to 15 hours per week for 38 weeks of the year. This can be split between St Andrew’s Pre-school and other early year providers. This funding starts in the term following your child’s 3rd birthday and continues until your child reaches statutory school age (the term after your child’s 5th birthday). Further details on government funding can be found below:

- 2 year old Education and childcare funding by Reading Borough Council (pdf)
The cost of a 3 hour session is:
- £15 for under 3
- £12 for non-funded 3 year old
For those parents whose children are fully funded we kindly request voluntary contributions of £20 per half term. These voluntary contributions provides St Andrew’s Pre-school with valuable additional income to help fill the gap in funding as running costs at the Pre-school continue to increase.
