Welcome to St Andrew’s Pre-school
At St Andrew’s Pre-school, we aim to provide a safe, caring and inclusive environment where children will develop to their full potential. Self-esteem and confidence are reinforced by praise and encouragement. As children progress through pre-school, they become more independent and self-reliant. But first and foremost pre-school should always be fun – learning to share and socialise with peers, enjoying all the activities on offer, having a good time without the pressure of continually needing to achieve.
St Andrew’s Pre-school provides places for up to 30 children at a time aged between 2½ and 5 years of age. You can register your child on the waiting list as soon as you wish. We require a registration form to be completed (you can download a copy here).
Please note that we have filled our register for this academic year (2016/17) and do not have any spaces until September 2017.
We also require a £20 non-refundable registration fee and to see the child’s birth certificate to confirm their date of birth as well as proof of address. All proof documentation needs to be original copies, not photocopies.
A copy of our admissions policy can be found here.
Funding and fees
Through the Government and Reading Borough Council, funding is available to cover up to 15 hours per week for 38 weeks of the year. This can be split between St Andrew’s Pre-school and other early year providers. This funding starts in the term following your child’s 3rd birthday and continues until your child reaches statutory school age (the term after your child’s 5th birthday).
In line with other Pre-schools within our area, we introduced additional fee-paying elements to our timetable from Autumn 2015.
Free Early Years Entitlement (FEYE) funding can be used for 2.5 hours per session. For example, if a child attends for a morning session totalling 3 hours (9.15 am to 12.15 pm), 2.5 hours are paid for via the FEYE, and 0.5 hours will be charged to the parent/carer.
Please note that your child will need to stay for the whole length of each session they attend, so by accepting a place on a 3 hour session, you agree to pay for 0.5 hours.

Voluntary Contributions – For those parents whose children are fully funded we kindly request voluntary contributions of £20 per half term. These voluntary contributions provides St Andrew’s Pre-school with valuable additional income to help fill the gap in funding as running costs at the Pre-school continue to increase.
