Our first term of ‘In the Moment’ sessions have proved to be positive for all the children and the staff team have also found the new routines valuable. We will continue to use topics for the children in our basic daily planning, but as we started
last September 2018, we will continue to use much broader headings and phrases rather than very specific themes and topics which often do not give the children as many opportunities to extend and develop ideas in their play.
Our topic for the first half of the Spring Term 2019 is ‘Winter Wonderland’. Whilst covering this topic, we will introduce the children to the changes in weather around us, looking at ice, snow, rain and sun. We will have opportunities to study and
experiment with freezing and melting and we will talk about what we wear in the winter to keep us warm, as well as the differences in temperatures during the year. We will discuss the changes in the seasons in the natural world around us. Our
cooking activities will concentrate on warming winter soups and buttering warm crumpets and toast for snack time. We have a super selection of books to follow our topic and welcome any related stories that the children enjoy from home.
